Kornel Wolak was born in Bialystok, Poland. He received his early music education in Poland where he studied with Zdzislaw Nowak. In 2001, he received a Performer Diploma Certificate at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where two years later he completed his Master of Music degree under Eli Eban. He completed his formal education at the Glenn Gould School in Toronto (Canada), where he studied with Joaquin Valdepenas, earning an Artist Diploma in the Orchestral Studies Program.

Mastering his craft has allowed Kornel the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best-known clarinetists of the day, including Vlastimil Marez (Prague), Michel Arrignon (Paris), Franklin Cohen, Charles Neidich, Michael Collins, Ricardo Morales, Thea King, James Campbell, Yehuda Gilad, Howard Klug, David Shiffrin, and John Manasse. His interest in performing music from the Classical and Baroque period led him to study Baroque and Classical performance practice with such renowned performers as Eva Legene (recorder), Michel McCraw (baroque bassoon), and Eric Hoeprich (classical clarinet).

Kornel has appeared solo with the Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra "Amadeus", Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, Poznan Music Academy Orchestra, Indiana University Chamber Orchestra, Charleston Symphony (SC), Quebec Symphony (Quebec), Toronto Sinfonietta (Toronto), and the Royal Conservatory Orchestra (Toronto). As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with the distinguished Wieniawski String Quartet, the Gould String Quartet, and the Lodos Wind Quintet with whom he was featured at Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto and broadcast on CBC Radio Two.
